A protest was held by the differently- abled people along with their teachers, families and supporters at the Pathanamthitta District Collectorate in Kerala. A number of differently abled persons came out on 27th October, Friday from 10 am onwards and expressed their demands. The protest is in wake of the various discriminations and ill-treatment being faced by the differently-abled persons in various sectors of society. Various organisations and individuals supporting the cause of the differently abled were present. Also, in attendance were the students of Justin' Home, a home for the differently abled children and adults providing free education and medical help. The differently-abled persons along with their supporters raised their concerns and made their voices heard regarding their equal right to education as normal children, access to study and receiving deserved benefits from the government.
The differently abled persons have held multiple rallies and protests across India in the past of express their demands as they are violated their rights. However, the government has not taken steps to improve their facilities as the discrimination continue to soar. Stories from differently abled children being excluded from attending regular schools are on the rise and the differently abled people are being excluded from various other places and activities as well. This protest is taking place in hopes that the Indian government will hear the voices of the differently abled individuals and perform their duties to fulfill the demands of the innocent.
